IT Band Syndrome

Also called: Iliotibial band friction syndrome

Sharp outer-knee pain in runners and cyclists from irritation where the IT band crosses the outer knee bump — a compression/load problem, not a 'tightness' problem. The fix lives in hip strength, training-load sense, and form, not in trying to stretch a band that doesn't stretch.
