Cupping and taping, between the big moves

Two simple tools that extend the work of a visit: cupping lifts and loosens tight tissue, and kinesiology tape supports it while you go about your week.

Cupping

Cups create gentle suction that lifts skin, fascia and muscle instead of pressing down on them. That increases local blood flow and helps tight layers slide again. Cups may be left in place or moved along the muscle. The round marks they can leave are not bruises from impact and fade in a few days.

Kinesiology taping

Elastic therapeutic tape is applied in specific patterns to support a joint or tendon without blocking movement, ease swelling and remind the body how to hold a better position. It stays on for several days through showers and workouts.

What a session is like

Cupping fits inside a 20-minute block or a soft-tissue session. Taping takes a few minutes at the end of a visit.

Is it right for you?

We skip cupping over broken or inflamed skin, varicose veins and recent injuries, and adjust for blood thinners. Tape isn't used on fragile skin or if you've reacted to adhesives.

Questions

Do the cupping marks hurt?

Usually not. They're a sign of where the tissue was congested and typically fade within three to seven days.
